Today, Nyt Arcanum & I literally went around London making people smile! People in the UK stay so enclosed, and it’s not positive.
Helping people with finding directions; making them smile; being happy; making conversation etc., can go SUCH a long way! For example, I was going up the escalators and a man in his late 20s had some really dope shoes on. I decided to let him know they were awesome, and he was so genuinely surprised about it. He told me he was planning on getting rid of them and that it made his day. It was literally NOTHING, I didn’t go out of my way in the slightest. It goes the show the littlest of things can have such a surprisingly large impact. And I feel people don’t do this often enough (myself included).
So through this, we’ve decided to work with the incredible charity, CALM, and give out FREE HUGS during this summer! Giving someone a little boost is so fulfilling and requires so little! We should all spread positivity, and make people understand that they are valued in society. People buckle over pressures so often, why not help them?

An interestingly informative, witty, male-approaching piece tackling depression, the single biggest killer of young men in the UK.

“Sometimes it takes people a while to come to terms with reality. Things like the Earth going round the sun and witches not being made of wood never sink in quickly. Some people still believe that dinosaurs were wiped out because they couldn’t fit on Noah’s ark.
This happened with depression. For centuries it was diagnosed as anything from imagination to demonic possession to being a big girl’s blouse. Thankfully, it’s now seen by anyone with a grasp of reality as an illness as dangerous as any other.
However, despite this enlightenment, depression still has its insidious little claws heavily embedded in society. It indiscriminately affects one in five people at some point in their life (and that’s just the diagnosed cases). That means, if you’re reading this in a populated area such as a café, train carriage or pottery class, several people around you have it.”
For every ONE heroin-related death, TWENTY-FIVE die by suicide. Men are THREE times more likely to end their lives due to depression than women, though both men and women suffer.
